Riyadh to Host Global Symposium Mapping the Future of Digital Regulation

Riyadh is preparing to host the Global Symposium for Regulators (GSR-25) at the end of August, gathering delegates from over 190 countries to chart the future trajectory of digital governance—a cornerstone event shaping the landscape of global tech governance.

Under the theme “Regulation for Sustainable Digital Development,” the symposium will address critical topics such as artificial intelligence regulation, sixth-generation networks (6G), and the convergence of terrestrial and non-terrestrial systems.

It serves as a vital platform for knowledge exchange among policymakers, regulatory officials, and industry leaders, aimed at advancing innovation, safeguarding consumer interests, bridging the digital divide, and furthering the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

The event reinforces Saudi Arabia’s positioning as a global digital leader, especially after its recent appointment to the UN’s ITU Digital Regulation Network Board.

With internet penetration nearing 99% in 2024, the Kingdom provides a robust environment for digital transformation.

GSR-25 is expected to conclude with the adoption of a resolution outlining regulatory principles for the post-digital era, informed by insights from participants and session recommendations—paving the way for a sweeping transformation in how technology is governed worldwide.
