Restoration Efforts Breathe New Life into Historic Kasbat Al-Midmar in Saudi Arabia

In a strong reflection of Saudi Arabia’s growing commitment to heritage preservation, Kasbat Al-Midmar, located south of the city of Turbah, is undergoing a comprehensive restoration project that aims to revive the architectural identity and cultural legacy of the centuries-old site.

Once a vibrant traditional settlement, Kasbat Al-Midmar was constructed using indigenous materials such as mud and stone, embodying the architectural character of the southern region. Over the years, much of the structure deteriorated due to environmental conditions and neglect.

The ongoing restoration involves reconstructing damaged structures using authentic techniques, restoring alleyways, reinforcing foundations, and preserving the site’s original aesthetic features—all while ensuring the historical essence of the village remains intact.

Beyond physical rehabilitation, the project aims to transform Kasbat Al-Midmar into a cultural tourism destination, offering visitors a deep connection to the region’s rich past and contributing to local tourism and historical awareness.

The initiative aligns with the Kingdom’s broader vision to revitalize historical landmarks and integrate them into sustainable tourism and cultural development, as part of Vision 2030.
