Red Sea Global (RSG), the Public Investment Fund-backed developer behind some of the kingdom’s most ambitious tourism projects, confirmed that five new resorts at the AMAALA destination will open in April 2026. The announcement was made by RSG Chief Executive John Pagano on the sidelines of the FII PRIORITY Summit in Miami, signaling a confident new chapter for one of the world’s most closely watched regenerative tourism destinations.

A Destination Coming Into Its Own

The AMAALA project, nestled along the rugged northwestern coast of Saudi Arabia where the Hijaz Mountains descend toward the Red Sea, is designed as an ultra-luxury wellness and lifestyle destination unlike anything else in the region. Since its inaugural opening in November 2025, the AMAALA Triple Bay development has been welcoming its first guests across six initial resorts, a private yacht club, and a global marine life center — all backed by an investment of SAR 51.04 billion in its first phase alone.

The five resorts set to open next month will bring the total number of operating properties within the AMAALA ecosystem to eleven, with three additional resorts scheduled to open before the end of 2026. By year’s end, RSG expects to have twenty-seven resorts across both AMAALA and The Red Sea project, reinforcing Saudi Arabia’s standing as one of the most dynamic luxury tourism markets on the global stage.

Connectivity Growing Alongside the Destination

Access to AMAALA has been expanding steadily to match the destination’s growing profile. Pagano confirmed that the international airport serving the Red Sea project is currently handling around sixteen flights per week, including daily services from Riyadh and three weekly departures from Jeddah. International connectivity has also been established, with routes from Doha, Dubai, and Milan — the first European city to be directly linked to the destination — already in operation, with further expansion planned as additional resorts come online.

The addition of European routes is particularly significant, as it signals RSG’s ambition to draw discerning international travelers who are increasingly looking beyond traditional Mediterranean and Southeast Asian luxury destinations for their next extraordinary experience.

Vision 2030 Momentum on the Coast

The AMAALA expansion fits squarely within Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 strategy to diversify the national economy and position the kingdom as a world-class tourism destination. The tourism sector has been set the ambitious target of attracting 150 million visitors annually by the end of the decade, and large-scale projects like AMAALA and The Red Sea are central to achieving it. With each new resort opening, Saudi Arabia builds a deeper reservoir of world-class hospitality that will support that ambition for years to come.
