Oman Air has launched its first direct flights to Taif in Saudi Arabia, linking Muscat with the “City of Roses” through three weekly direct flights, each with an average duration of 3 hours and 20 minutes, aiming to boost tourism exchange and travel movement between the Sultanate of Oman and western Saudi Arabia.
With one-way fares starting from OMR 38.1, the new route offers Omani travelers greater access to Taif, renowned for its mild climate, rich cultural heritage, and proximity to Makkah. The service also seeks to attract visitors from Saudi Arabia to explore Oman’s tourism offerings and benefit from Oman Air’s broader network via Muscat International Airport.
Mike Rutter, Oman Air’s Chief Commercial Officer, stated that the launch reflects the airline’s commitment to expanding its destination network in line with market demand and regional travel needs. He noted that the Taif route strengthens direct connectivity between Oman and western Saudi Arabia, supporting business, religious, and leisure tourism, while stimulating two-way travel flows.
A ceremonial event was held at Muscat International Airport to mark the inaugural flight, while an official reception greeted the aircraft upon arrival at Taif International Airport, organized by Cluster 2 Airports Company, attended by Oman’s Consul General in Jeddah and senior officials.
Taif becomes Oman Air’s fifth destination in Saudi Arabia, joining Jeddah, Riyadh, Dammam, and Madinah, further strengthening the airline’s regional network across the Gulf and Middle East. The flights are operated using Boeing 737 aircraft, offering passengers a comfortable travel experience and Oman Air’s signature hospitality.
