Loay Hisham Nazer is one of Saudi Arabia’s most prominent businessmen, particularly recognized for his contributions in the medical and sports sectors.
Early Life
Loay Hisham Nazer was born in Jeddah in 1965. He is the son of Hisham Nazer, one of the Kingdom’s most influential politicians,
who previously served as Minister of Planning and Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources.

Education
Loay Nazer completed his primary and secondary education in Saudi Arabia.
He then moved to the United States, where he settled in Los Angeles to attend the University of California.
He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1987.
Later, he obtained a Master’s degree in Business Administration in 1989, followed by an honorary doctorate in Humane Letters from Goodwin College in the U.S. in 2005.
Career
Upon completing his studies, Loay Nazer immediately embarked on a career in business, establishing one of Saudi Arabia’s leading medical holding groups.
He worked closely with key players in the healthcare industry to strengthen and enhance Saudi Arabia’s medical sector.
In addition to his business achievements, Nazer has delivered numerous regional lectures on globalization and principled decision-making.
He has also gained recognition in Western media for his commentary on Saudi economic issues.
Globally recognized beyond local circles, Nazer appeared as the main guest on a Saudi television program focused on fostering Saudi-Western relations.
Achievements
In 1991, Nazer founded Nazer Holding, a company primarily focused on providing medical equipment and supplies.
The company also offers engineering consultancy services, invests in private equity, and manufactures oil and gas equipment.
In 2006, out of 3,500 candidates, Nazer was selected as a member of the Young Global Leaders (YGL) organization—one of the world’s leading independent bodies dedicated to empowering the next generation of global leaders.
In 2007, he was appointed by the Saudi Council of Ministers to serve as a board member of the Council of Cooperative Health Insurance for a three-year term,
representing the private sector in Saudi Arabia’s official health insurance regulatory body.
He engaged in extensive negotiations with government entities to advance the Kingdom’s health insurance industry.
In 2010, prior to the end of his initial term, he was reappointed for a second three-year term.
Also in 2010, the World Economic Forum selected Nazer as a member of the YGL, joining a group of high-ranking individuals under the age of forty.
That same year, he became a first-class fellow of the Aspen Institute’s Middle East Leadership Initiative.
He was also named one of the “Top 100 Influential Alumni” of the UCLA Anderson School of Management.
In 2011, Nazer became Chairman of Bupa Arabia for Cooperative Insurance, a Saudi joint stock company specializing in medical insurance,
launched in 1997 in partnership with Nazer Holding Group.
In 2012, he was appointed Chairman of the Jeddah Marketing Council, where he led efforts to establish several marketing centers that have contributed to Jeddah’s economic growth and success.
In October 2013, he was appointed President of the Saudi Judo Federation by the President of the Saudi Olympic Committee for a three-year term.
He was subsequently elected by the General Assembly to serve as a board member of the Saudi Olympic Committee, later becoming Vice President of the committee.
In 2018, Loay Nazer was appointed President of Al-Ittihad Football Club by Turki Al-Sheikh,
then Chairman of the General Sports Authority, following the resignation of Nawaf Al-Muqairin.

Personal Life
Loay Nazer has largely kept his personal life private and away from the media spotlight.
However, according to circulating reports (which Nazer has neither confirmed nor denied), he is married and has three children:
