The King Abdulaziz Public Library will host an international symposium in Seoul titled “Translation and Artificial Intelligence: Opportunities and Challenges” on Sept. 30, as part of the 11th King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz International Award for Translation.

Experts from the Kingdom, Morocco, and South Korea will participate in the event.

The sessions will address key issues such as the latest AI tools for translators, ethical and copyright concerns, practical applications, and frameworks for responsible adoption. Opening remarks will be delivered by Faisal bin Abdulrahman bin Muammar, General Supervisor of the King Abdulaziz Public Library, and Park Jeong-woon, President of Hankuk University.

Special focus will be given to the complexities of Arabic-Korean translation, alongside bilateral research presentations and discussions on strategies for responsible AI use in professional translation.

The symposium underscores the Kingdom’s growing role in leading global conversations on artificial intelligence, highlighting how AI is reshaping translation while raising essential questions about professional standards, cultural nuance, and intellectual property.
