The Kingdom has announced a major enhancement to its rail transport system through an agreement with Talgo to procure 20 new trains for the Haramain High-Speed Railway, aimed at increasing capacity and improving service quality on one of the region’s most important rail corridors.
Upon completion of delivery, the total fleet will reach 55 trains, significantly boosting operational efficiency and accommodating higher passenger volumes, particularly during peak seasons.
Each train will consist of 13 carriages, including:
8 economy-class carriages
5 business-class carriages
The trains will operate at a maximum speed of 300 km/h and will feature a dedicated, fully equipped carriage for passengers with disabilities, aligning with international standards for accessibility and inclusive transport.
This expansion underscores the Kingdom’s commitment to advancing modern, efficient, and sustainable public transport solutions, enhancing connectivity between holy cities and improving the travel experience for millions of passengers each year.
