Hail Development Authority Reviews Jordan’s Tourism Model to Boost Sustainable Growth

A delegation from the Hail Region Development Authority visited Jordan to explore advanced practices in managing archaeological and tourism sites, with a strong focus on community engagement and sustainable development.

The trip included tours of UNESCO World Heritage Sites such as Wadi Rum, where delegates examined ancient inscriptions and reviewed potential investment opportunities in desert camps.

The visit also covered Petra’s historic landmarks and visitor centers, alongside meetings with local cooperatives and handicraft workshops to better understand community contributions to tourism.

Omar Abduljabbar, CEO of the authority, stated that the purpose of the visit was to exchange expertise and build on Jordan’s success in managing globally significant archaeological sites.

He emphasized that Hail’s heritage development projects align with Saudi Vision 2030, aiming to position the region on the global tourism map. Transforming archaeological sites into cultural and economic assets, he added, would diversify the national economy while enhancing the region’s appeal to both tourists and investors.
