Grand Theft Auto 6 Delayed Until May 2026

In disappointing news for gamers worldwide, Rockstar Games has officially delayed the release of Grand Theft Auto 6 to May 2026,

pushing back one of the most anticipated video game launches in history.

Originally slated for release later this year on consoles, the developer said it needed additional time to ensure the game meets the “level of quality you expect and deserve.”

The company also expressed gratitude for the overwhelming global excitement, describing it as “truly humbling for our entire team.”

GTA 6 is the long-awaited sequel to GTA 5, the second best-selling video game of all time, which continues to enjoy immense popularity due to its expansive online mode.

Official details about GTA 6 remain limited, but a trailer released in December 2023 gave fans a glimpse of what’s to come — including two lead protagonists and a new fictional setting called Leonida, inspired by the state of Florida.

Rockstar is renowned for its meticulous and lengthy development cycles. The 12-year gap between GTA 5 and GTA 6 has become a running joke among fans,

and the studio has a history of delaying major titles — including 2018’s Red Dead Redemption 2.

Nonetheless, expectations remain high, Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick has stated that every new Rockstar title must offer “something you’ve never seen before,” raising hopes that the delay will result in a groundbreaking experience.
