Electronic Registration for I'tikaf in the Two Holy Mosques Begins Today

Through its official online platform, the General Authority for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque has opened the registration for those wishing to perform I’tikaf (spiritual retreat) this year.

The authority invited all interested individuals to apply for the necessary permits, selecting their preferred location between the Grand Mosque in Makkah or the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah.

Applicants are required to watch an informative video explaining the service details and adhere to the specified guidelines for I’tikaf, which will take place during the last ten days of Ramadan until Eid al-Fitr night.

 

I’tikaf Registration in the Two Holy Mosques

The authority announced that I’tikaf permits are available for both Saudi citizens and legal residents in the Kingdom. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and have a valid residence permit if they are non-citizens.

These permits are issued free of charge, and those interested can apply through the dedicated online registration portal, which supports Arabic, English, and Urdu languages.

 

How to Register for I’tikaf at the Grand Mosque

The General Authority for the Care of the Two Holy Mosques has launched a new online service allowing individuals to apply for I’tikaf permits during the last ten days of Ramadan.

To facilitate the process, applicants can obtain their permits by following these steps:

  •  Visit the official website of the General Authority for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques.
  •  Log in via the National Single Sign-On (Absher) system or create a new account.
  •  Select the mosque for I’tikaf: Grand Mosque (Makkah) or Prophet’s Mosque (Madinah).
  •  Enter the required details and agree to the terms and conditions after watching the mandatory awareness video.
  •  Receive a confirmation SMS of the initial approval after completing the steps.
  •  Confirm attendance and upload a personal photo to receive the final I’tikaf permit.

 

Requirements for the I’tikaf Permit

To obtain an I’tikaf permit in the Two Holy Mosques, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  •  Saudi citizens or legal residents with a valid Iqama.
  •  Physically present in the Kingdom at the time of application.
  •  Minimum age of 18 years.
  •  In good health, capable of performing religious duties without difficulty.
  •  Disclose any chronic illnesses or medications taken regularly.
  •  Commit to the entire I’tikaf period, from Ramadan 20 until the end of Isha prayer on Eid al-Fitr night.

This initiative aims to simplify the registration process, ensuring a smooth and organized experience for worshippers observing I’tikaf in the holiest mosques during the blessed days of Ramadan.
