“When does Eid Al-Fitr start?”
That’s the top question trending on search engines these days, as Muslims eagerly await the end of Ramadan and the arrival of one of the most joyful holidays of the year.
As the holy month enters its final stretch, families start preparing Eid sweets, planning gatherings, and organizing travels, counting down the days until the blessed festival begins.

Here are the official Eid Al-Fitr 2025 holiday dates in Saudi Arabia:
Public sector: Last working day is Monday, 24th of Ramadan 1446 AH.
Private sector: Holidays start after work on Saturday, 29th of Ramadan 1446 AH.
Non-profit sector: Also begins the break after Saturday, 29th of Ramadan 1446 AH.
According to astronomical calculations, Ramadan this year is expected to be only 29 days long.
The National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics in Egypt announced that the Shawwal crescent moon will be born right after the conjunction at 1:00 PM Cairo time on Saturday, March 29, 2025 – the night of moon sighting.
The new moon is expected to remain visible for a few minutes after sunset in cities across the Arab and Islamic world, which means that Sunday, March 30, 2025 is likely to be the first day of Eid Al-Fitr.
With that, the long-awaited break officially kicks off, bringing joy, celebration, and family time all across the Kingdom.
The holiday typically lasts three to four days depending on the sector’s official announcement.
