Dakar Champion Yazeed Al-Rajhi Aims for Eighth Title in Hail Rally

Saudi motorsport champion Yazeed Al-Rajhi continues his preparations to compete in Baja Saudi Arabia,

the opening round of the FIA World Cup for Cross-Country Bajas, known as the Hail Rally 2025, which will take place from January 29 to February 1.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the event, which is considered one of the Kingdom’s most prominent sporting milestones.

Hail Rally is widely regarded as the birthplace of rallying in Saudi Arabia and a historic launchpad for motorsport in the country,

earning it a distinguished status in the national sporting scene.

Following his historic victory in the prestigious Dakar Rally, Saudi Arabia’s motorsport icon Yazeed Al-Rajhi sets his sights on continuing his winning momentum on home soil and in front of a passionate local audience.

The 2025 edition of Hail Rally celebrates two decades of action and legacy, adding another milestone to the Kingdom’s growing list of motorsport achievements.

The competition will consist of two main stages. It begins with a 6-kilometer prologue stage, allowing drivers to showcase their skills and fine-tune their vehicles.

This is followed by the first stage of 260 kilometers, and a second stage of 160 kilometers.

Known for its intense and thrilling nature, the rally takes place on soft desert terrain and sand dunes, presenting a true test of endurance and driving precision.

Al-Rajhi, often referred to as the “Ambassador of Motorsport,” is among the most prominent figures competing in the event.

He has been a part of the Hail Rally since 2009, participating with various manufacturers including Toyota.

Over the years, he has claimed seven titles, making him the most successful Saudi driver in the history of the rally.

In 2025, he is aiming to add an eighth victory to his impressive record.

 

Expressing his optimism for this edition, Al-Rajhi stated:

“Hail Rally always holds a special place in my heart. I’m truly happy to be here to celebrate the 20th anniversary of this iconic event.

Being part of it since 2009 makes it even more meaningful—it’s one of the rallies that shaped my journey in the world of desert racing.

I’m also grateful to Jameel Motorsport for their continuous support, which motivates me to keep achieving victories for my country.”
