October 27th, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia| In a landmark event for diplomatic relations, Colombia has officially inaugurated its first embassy in Saudi Arabia. The ceremony, held on Monday night, featured the symbolic cutting of the yellow, blue, and red ribbon by Colombian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, H.E. Dr. Rayan El-Barkachi Aboutrabi. This opening marks a significant step forward in Colombia’s engagement with the Kingdom, marking a new chapter in the bilateral relations between Colombia and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The embassy’s inauguration coincides with Colombian President Gustavo Petro’s visit to Riyadh to attend the 9th edition of the Future Investment Initiative (FII). The president is accompanied by his ministers to strengthen dialogue between Colombia and the region, sharing Colombia’s vision on global investment, innovation, and cooperation.

Colombia, known as “el país de la belleza,”meaning the Country of beauty, offers a rich cultural heritage and stunning natural landscapes that promise a unique experience for Saudi visitors. The president’s vision includes promoting tourism, encouraging Saudis to explore Colombia’s diverse offerings while also inviting Colombians to discover the wonders of Saudi Arabia.
Colombian Ambassador H.E. Dr. Rayan El-Barkachi Aboutrabi told to The Saudi Times, “This partnership showcases the possibilities for shared growth and investment, promoting a strong exchange that will benefit both countries.” He emphasized that this is a historic moment for Colombia, as the opening of the embassy not only enhances diplomatic ties but also paves the way for increased cultural exchange and economic collaboration.
