The house, built over 150 years ago, was originally the home of Isa bin Mugayel, one of Irqah’s early residents.

His grandson, Bader Al-Mugayel, took on the mission to restore the house over 16 months, using local materials and authentic building techniques — not for commercial gain, but to keep the legacy alive.

“What inspired me was my grandfather and our family’s roots,” Bader said. “The goal was never investment — it was to make sure this place doesn’t die.”

Bayt Isa features signature elements of Najdi architecture, including flat roofs, thick walls, and intricate geometric designs. The restoration respected traditional proportions, such as wall heights not exceeding 3.5 meters, which ensured both structural strength and thermal comfort.

Now open free of charge to the public, Bayt Isa stands as a cultural beacon — a heartfelt example of how individuals can preserve national identity by safeguarding architectural heritage.
