Saudi Arabia’s expanding water infrastructure received a significant boost this week as Alkhorayef Water and Power Technologies signed a SAR 221 million contract with the National Water Company (NWC) to construct and extend sanitary sewer networks across the governorates of Hafar Al-Batin and Al-Qaisomah in the Kingdom’s Eastern Region.

The agreement, representing the fourth phase — second part — of an ongoing development programme, covers the construction of sewer pipelines with diameters ranging from 200 to 700 millimetres, spanning a total length of approximately 184 kilometres. The scope of work also includes the installation of manholes and inspection chambers, along with the necessary connections to bring the new networks into the existing municipal infrastructure.

Delivering Water Security to Northern Communities

The 36-month contract, signed on March 30, 2026 after all parties completed the required formalities, is expected to have a direct financial impact on Alkhorayef Water beginning in the first quarter of 2026. The project will serve the populations of Hafar Al-Batin and Al-Qaisomah, two key cities in the northeastern reaches of the Kingdom, where urban growth and rising residential density have placed increasing demand on municipal water and sanitation services.

Alkhorayef Water and Power Technologies, listed on the Saudi Exchange (Tadawul), has built a strong track record in delivering water infrastructure across Saudi Arabia. The company’s engineering capabilities and project execution history position it as a trusted partner in the Kingdom’s drive to expand essential services and improve the quality of life for residents in cities large and small. No related parties are involved in the agreement.

Part of a Nationwide Infrastructure Expansion

The NWC contract reflects Saudi Arabia’s broader commitment to investing in water and sanitation infrastructure as part of the Quality of Life programme embedded in Vision 2030. Improving access to reliable and safe sanitation services in cities beyond the central urban core is central to the Kingdom’s strategy of balanced regional development — a strategy that ensures growing communities outside Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dammam receive the same standard of municipal services.

Investments of this scale are being made across multiple governorates as Saudi Arabia prepares its cities to support expanding populations and to accommodate the businesses, residents, and visitors that its transformation programmes are expected to attract in the years ahead. The Hafar Al-Batin and Al-Qaisomah project is one of several major infrastructure contracts signed in recent weeks that signal continued momentum in the Kingdom’s construction and utilities sector.
