‘Adopt a Coral’ Community Program Launched to Restore Marine Life in the Kingdom

The Red Sea initiative, part of Red Sea Global, has launched a new community-driven program titled “Adopt a Coral,” inviting the public to take part in restoring coral reefs and raising environmental awareness along the Kingdom’s Red Sea coastline.

The initiative empowers individuals to directly contribute to marine ecosystem conservation by adopting coral fragments that are carefully planted in designated reef restoration sites using advanced techniques to ensure long-term growth and sustainability.

The first phase of the program was launched at Coral Reef Island 7 within the Red Sea Project, where volunteers from diverse backgrounds and age groups participated in coral planting activities under the guidance of marine science experts. The goal is to restore over 100,000 square meters of coral reefs by 2025.

This initiative aligns with the Kingdom’s broader environmental commitments to protect marine biodiversity and ensure that large-scale tourism development coexists harmoniously with nature.

It also supports Vision 2030’s focus on sustainability and responsible stewardship of natural resources.

By offering hands-on, educational, and inspiring experiences, the program helps foster a culture of environmental responsibility while promoting eco-tourism and community engagement in protecting the Kingdom’s rich marine habitats.
