Saudi Arabia and Japan celebrated 70 years of diplomatic ties in Riyadh, marking seven decades of friendship and collaboration across economy, culture, technology, and energy.
The event, attended by senior officials, diplomats, and business leaders from both nations, featured cultural and artistic performances that reflected the deep connection between Saudi and Japanese societies, highlighting the evolution of their partnership from its beginnings in 1955 to one of Asia’s strongest bilateral relationships today.
In his remarks, Japanese Ambassador Fumio Iwai praised the enduring partnership, noting that Tokyo views Riyadh as a key strategic partner in advancing clean energy, innovation, and high technology.
Saudi officials also emphasized the pivotal role of Japanese companies in supporting Vision 2030 projects, particularly in fields such as artificial intelligence, green hydrogen, and industrial innovation, describing the partnership as a bridge toward a prosperous and sustainable future.
The celebration included traditional Japanese music performances, an art exhibition, and interactive activities for children introducing them to the history of Saudi-Japanese relations.
This milestone event underscores the strong diplomatic and developmental collaboration between the two nations, as Riyadh and Tokyo continue to strengthen ties through joint committees, mutual investments, and innovation-driven initiatives shaping the future of both economies.
