Liverpool’s German coach Arne Slot has openly admitted that his recent tactical approach involving Egyptian star Mohamed Salah “did not work as planned,” sparking discussion among fans and analysts.
Speaking after Liverpool’s latest draw, Slot praised Salah’s influence on the pitch, saying: “He’s a world-class player with unique skills and the ability to change a game instantly. We tried giving him more freedom up front, but it disrupted the team’s overall balance.”
The manager revealed that the technical staff is currently reworking Liverpool’s attacking structure to better leverage Salah’s strengths while maintaining defensive stability. “Salah remains a vital part of our project — his leadership and experience are invaluable,” Slot added.
Since joining Liverpool in 2017, Mohamed Salah has been instrumental in the club’s success, leading the Reds to the 2019 UEFA Champions League and the 2020 Premier League title, and ranking fifth among the club’s all-time top scorers.
With a series of challenging fixtures ahead, Slot faces a major task: restoring Liverpool’s equilibrium between attack and defense while maximizing Salah’s undeniable impact on the game.
