Saudi OpenSource 2025 Hackathon Launches in Riyadh to Drive Digital Transformation

The Digital Technical College for Girls in Riyadh has launched the Saudi OpenSource 2025 Hackathon under the slogan “One Programmer for Every 100 Saudis — Towards an Innovative Digital Future.” The event is organized in collaboration with the Digital Transformation Department at the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation and the Digital Government Authority.

The hackathon aims to build a new digital generation capable of leading the Kingdom’s technological transformation. It features two main tracks: developing alternative open-source products and enhancing existing government products. Each team must select one challenge to address, delivering specialized solutions that contribute to advancing government digital services.

The initiative targets students from both public and private universities in Saudi Arabia, as well as trainees from technical and vocational institutes, ensuring a rich diversity of talent and ideas. Its launch coincides with the 95th Saudi National Day and Software Freedom Day, symbolically connecting the Kingdom’s heritage with its ambitious digital future.
