In a major boost to its tourism and retail sectors, the Kingdom has introduced an expanded VAT refund system for tourists, now available at over 1,400 registered retail outlets nationwide.
This initiative aims to elevatetravelersping experience for international visitors by enabling them to reclaim value-added tax instantly on eligible purchases.
The system covers a wide range of retail categories—from high-end fashion boutiques and jewelry stores to electronics, luxury goods, and traditional crafts—ensuring tourists can enjoy both modern and cultural shopping experiences while benefiting from tax-free savings.
According to the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority, tourists can request VAT refunds through advanced electronic kiosks located in participating stores, eliminating the need for lengthy airport procedures.
This seamless process reflects the Kingdom’s commitment to adopting innovative solutions that support its Vision 2030 strategy, which seeks to position the country as a leading global tourism destination.
Officials emphasized that this initiative not only boosts retail sales but also enhances the Kingdom’s appeal as a preferred shopping hub in the Middle East, combining world-class hospitality with economic incentives for travelers.
