The latest edition of the Buraidah International Dates Carnival has officially opened and will continue through October 14, bringing together farmers, traders, importers, and investors from across Saudi Arabia and abroad in one of the Kingdom’s largest agricultural and commercial events.

Recognized as the world’s largest seasonal dates marketplace, the carnival highlights the economic importance of Saudi Arabia’s date industry while combining business opportunities with cultural, tourism, and family-oriented activities that celebrate the heritage of the Qassim region.

Qassim remains one of Saudi Arabia’s most productive agricultural regions, home to more than 11 million date palm trees that produce approximately 578,000 tonnes of dates each year.

The carnival serves as a major marketplace for showcasing this extensive production, providing local growers with direct access to domestic and international buyers while strengthening the global reputation of Saudi dates.

Beyond traditional buying and selling, the event serves as an important commercial platform where producers, exporters, importers, and investors establish new partnerships and explore opportunities across the food and agricultural sectors.

Visitors can discover innovations in cultivation, packaging, processing, logistics, and marketing that help increase the competitiveness and value of Saudi agricultural products.

The carnival extends well beyond its commercial activities by offering a diverse program of cultural, tourism, and entertainment experiences designed for visitors of all ages.

Among its highlights is a traditional rural farm that showcases Qassim’s agricultural heritage, while King Khalid Cultural Center hosts exhibitions, community programs, and cultural events celebrating the Kingdom’s long-standing relationship with date cultivation.

These activities provide visitors with a deeper understanding of Saudi farming traditions while enhancing the region’s tourism appeal.

The Buraidah International Dates Carnival generates an estimated SR3.2 billion in annual economic activity and supports more than 4,000 direct and indirect jobs.

Its economic impact extends across agriculture, food industries, transportation, hospitality, retail, and tourism, making it one of Saudi Arabia’s most influential seasonal economic events.

The carnival reflects Saudi Arabia’s broader strategy to strengthen food security, expand agricultural investment, and diversify the national economy under Vision 2030.

By promoting Saudi dates in international markets and encouraging innovation throughout the agricultural value chain, the event continues to reinforce Qassim’s position as one of the world’s leading centers for date production and trade.
