Riyadh Air has marked a major milestone in its commercial journey with the launch of its first scheduled Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner service to London, reinforcing Saudi Arabia\u2019s ambitions to become a leading global aviation hub.<\/p>\n

Flight RX401 departed from King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh and arrived in London Heathrow, representing the airline\u2019s first official commercial operation using its newly delivered Dreamliner fleet.<\/p>\n

A New Operational Chapter Begins<\/h3>\n

The launch comes just days after Riyadh Air received its first custom-built Boeing 787-9 aircraft, with two planes delivered on June 5 and a third joining the fleet shortly afterward.<\/p>\n

The London route represents a key step in the airline\u2019s growth strategy, following months of operational testing and passenger experience evaluations conducted under its readiness program.<\/p>\n

The airline\u2019s Boeing 787-9 aircraft feature a four-class cabin configuration, including Business Elite, Business, Premium Economy, and Economy, alongside advanced in-flight entertainment systems and next-generation digital connectivity services.<\/p>\n

More Than 100 Destinations by 2030<\/h3>\n

Established in 2023 and wholly owned by the Public Investment Fund, Riyadh Air was launched as part of Saudi Vision 2030 to strengthen air connectivity, boost tourism, and diversify the Kingdom\u2019s economy.<\/p>\n

The carrier received its Air Operator Certificate in 2025 and has since accelerated preparations for international expansion.<\/p>\n

Riyadh Air aims to connect Riyadh with more than 100 destinations worldwide by 2030, while targeting nearly 20 destinations by the end of this year.<\/p>\n

The expansion is supported by a major order of 72 Boeing 787 Dreamliners, with long-term plans to grow the fleet to more than 180 aircraft.<\/p>\n

Driving Economic Growth and Global Connectivity<\/h3>\n

Riyadh Air is expected to play a central role in Saudi Arabia\u2019s aviation transformation, with projections indicating it could contribute nearly $20 billion to the non-oil economy and support more than 200,000 direct and indirect jobs.<\/p>\n
