\nThe Walt Disney Company<\/a> is facing a new lawsuit in the United States seeking $5 million in damages over allegations that the company improperly used facial recognition technology inside Disneyland parks without adequately informing visitors about the collection of biometric data.<\/p>\n

The lawsuit was filed by a Disneyland visitor who claims Disney failed to clearly disclose that sensitive facial data was being collected through facial recognition systems installed at park entrances.<\/p>\n

According to the complaint, many visitors, including children, may not realize that their biometric information is being scanned and converted into digital identifiers used to verify identity and match ticket data.<\/p>\n

The plaintiff argues that the use of such technology should require explicit written consent from visitors, emphasizing that the burden of protecting privacy should not fall on consumers themselves.<\/p>\n

The case was filed in a federal court in New York in May 2026, shortly after the plaintiff visited both Disneyland and Disney California Adventure.<\/p>\n

Earlier this year, The Walt Disney Company announced the rollout of facial recognition systems at park entrances in an effort to streamline guest re-entry and prevent ticket fraud.<\/p>\n

The technology works by scanning a visitor\u2019s face and converting the image into a unique biometric identifier, which is then compared to ticket information to confirm a match before allowing entry.<\/p>\n
