Saudi Arabia’s new Al Jouf International Airport has officially begun operations, receiving its first commercial flight on Wednesday as the Kingdom completes the full transfer from the old facility to a modern terminal built to international standards. The passenger terminal spans 24,000 square meters and includes 16 check-in counters, two of which are designated for self-service, along with 11 departure and arrival gates, five dual passport control counters, and 648 parking spaces. The terminal’s design pays tribute to the rich heritage of the Al Jouf region. Some 5,000 square meters of green spaces have been incorporated into the airport grounds, adorned with olive trees that are synonymous with the area’s agricultural identity. The design blends local cultural elements with the functional demands of a modern airport, creating a space that feels distinctly rooted in the region it serves.<\/p>\n
Accessibility has been a priority in the new facility. The airport features dedicated sensory rooms for travelers with Autism Spectrum Disorder, alongside a range of accessible services for passengers with disabilities.
