For Mina, this venture is more than just an expansion\u2014it\u2019s a return to his culinary origins.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have always wanted to be more present in the Middle East because it\u2019s deeply tied to my roots\u2014the flavors I grew up with and the dishes that defined my childhood,\u201d he shared with Arab News. \u201cWhen this opportunity came, it felt fresh, exciting, and aligned with where I am in my career.\u201d<\/p>\n
Born in Cairo and raised in the United States, Mina fondly remembers growing up in a household rich with the aromas of Middle Eastern cuisine.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy mother had eight aunts and uncles,\u201d he recalled. \u201cEvery weekend, there would be 30 people gathered around a table filled with food.\u201d<\/p>\n
This early exposure to communal dining and bold flavors ignited his love for cooking.<\/p>\n
A Culinary Journey to Success<\/strong><\/h2>\n
Mina\u2019s career began humbly\u2014his first job in a restaurant was as a dishwasher.<\/p>\n
\u201cI started washing dishes, then moved to cooking, and I just fell in love with everything\u2014the creativity, the hospitality,\u201d he said. \u201cBy the time I was 16, I knew this was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life.\u201d<\/p>\n
Convincing his parents, however, took time.<\/p>\n
\u201cFor them, the choices were doctor, lawyer, engineer\u2026 A cook wasn\u2019t on the list,\u201d he laughed. \u201cIt took me two years to convince them.\u201d<\/p>\n
Today, Mina\u2019s culinary journey has led him to global recognition. His San Francisco flagship restaurant holds a Michelin star, he has cooked for three U.S. presidents, and he is a multiple James Beard Award winner.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think the Saudi food scene is going to explode,\u201d he said. \u201cWe\u2019re seeing more innovation, but what\u2019s exciting is that it remains rooted in its traditions while also embracing global influences.\u201d<\/p>\n
For now, Mina\u2019s focus is on making Taleed a must-visit dining destination in Riyadh.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe greatest compliment for a chef is when guests leave the restaurant thinking, \u2018I need to come back for that dish,\u2019\u201d he shared. \u201cThat\u2019s when you know you\u2019ve done something right.\u201d<\/p>\n
