The General Directorate of Traffic in Saudi Arabia has clarified the cause of the loud explosion that was heard in some neighborhoods of Jeddah.

Authorities confirmed that the noise resulted from a traffic accident involving two vehicles, one of which was a truck, leading to a minor explosion.

The Traffic Department emphasized that emergency teams immediately responded to the scene and managed the situation without recording any fatalities or injuries.

Earlier, several residents of northern Jeddah reported hearing the explosion before officials confirmed that it was a traffic-related incident that had been fully brought under control.

Safety Advisory Amid Rainy Conditions

In a separate statement, the Traffic Department stressed the importance of following road safety guidelines during rainy weather to prevent accidents caused by slippery roads and reduced visibility.

Authorities urged drivers to adhere to safe driving practices, including:

Avoiding reckless lane switching

Reducing speed

Avoiding crossing valleys or flood-prone areas

Steering clear of waterlogged roads

Maintaining a safe following distance

The statement highlighted that neglecting these precautions significantly increases the risk of road accidents.

Officials reaffirmed that following these guidelines can greatly reduce accidents and ensure the safety of all road users. Drivers were also advised to stay alert and check weather updates before traveling under such conditions.
